The short version
Kyle P. Cottner is a Las Vegas personal injury trial attorney, Nevada Bar No. 12722, and the founder of The Cottner Firm, LLC, which practices as Kyle Wins. He has recovered more than $100 million for injured Nevadans, holds 287+ five-star Google reviews, and handles every case personally from the first call to the final check.
The why: a seventh-grader watching his mother suffer
Kyle was born and raised near St. Louis, Missouri. When he was in seventh grade, his mother suffered a devastating injury accident that left her with a broken hip requiring surgery and three steel screws. He watched her pain through weeks of bed rest, and he watched the injury follow her for the rest of her life. That is why he became a lawyer, and it is why every client at the firm is treated like the person at his kitchen table, not a file number.
The education and the training
Kyle graduated Cum Laude from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2012. In 2017 he was hand-selected for the National Trial Practice Institute at Mercer Law School and placed in its most advanced group of 200 nationally recognized trial attorneys, with specialized training in demonstrative evidence and cross-examination, the courtroom skills that decide injury trials.
Before opening his own firm, Kyle sharpened his appellate skills in the Clark County District Attorney's Appellate Division, where he successfully authored more than ten appeals to the Nevada Supreme Court. That is where the appellate credential on this page comes from: not a seminar, but briefs that won.
The trial count has an origin of its own. After the DA clerkship, Kyle spent five years as a trial attorney at the Clark County Public Defender's Office, standing in front of juries for people who could not afford to hire anyone, trying case after case while most young lawyers were still carrying bags. Years in private injury practice followed before he founded The Cottner Firm in 2020. The courtroom reps came first; the firm came after.
That training is not decoration. It is why insurance companies read his demands differently: the file across the table was built by someone who tries cases.
Before law school, Kyle was a three-time All-State track and field athlete who took an academic scholarship to the University of Missouri–St. Louis, made the Dean's List, was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key honor societies, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Criminology and Legal Studies in 2009.
The record
Over $100 million recovered. More than 150 settlements of $100,000 or more. More than 30 trials, over 100 evidentiary hearings argued, and more than 10 appeals authored to the Nevada Supreme Court. Representative results include an $11.8 million rear-end collision recovery, $6 million in a construction accident, $5 million in a casino negligent security case, and $4.9 million in a tow truck collision. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome; they demonstrate what full preparation produces.
Kyle is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, membership groups limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar results, a member of the American Association for Justice, and has been selected to Super Lawyers Rising Stars every year from 2021 through 2026. Earlier recognition includes Nevada Business Magazine's Legal Elite (2019) and MYVEGAS Magazine's Top 100 Lawyers (2019).
The model: undivided attention
Most injury firms run on volume: hundreds of files per lawyer, case managers doing the talking, and settlements priced for speed rather than value. Kyle built the opposite. A deliberately limited caseload means every client gets his direct attention, calls get answered, and the constant pressure he personally puts on the insurance company causes settlements to come back bigger, and faster.
That is the entire meaning of the name. Billboards don't win cases. Laser Focus, Undivided Attention, and Relentless Representation do.
